With the help of volunteer tax preparers, the Chesterfield-Colonial Heights Department of Social Services will provide free tax-preparation and filing assistance between Jan.26 and Mar. 29. The service will be available on Thursdays, 4 p.m.-6:30 p.m., at the Smith-Wagner Building, 9501 Lucy Corr Circle, Chesterfield. Assistance is for individuals or families who earn less than $50,000 annually, many of whom may qualify for the Earned Income Tax Credit, or EITC. |

It’s time again for Chester’s BBQ throwdown |

Last year the Rotary Club of Chester launched the area’s very first BBQ Cook-off Competition on the Chester Village Green. Professional, as well as amateur, competitors turned out to compete for bragging rights for “Best BBQ in Town.” Thousands of people came to sample the beef, chicken and pork barbecue, cast their vote and help support the local charities and nonprofits supported by the Rotary Club of Chester. |
