Seniors get free help with legal documents |
Description: |
Older adults and those with disabilities who need help preparing life-planning documents, including wills, durable powers of attorney and advance medical directives, may receive free assistance on Lawyers Helping Seniors Day on Wednesday, May 29, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Participants must be residents of Chesterfield County and must make reservations before April 30. The confidential legal assistance is provided by attorneys who volunteer their time. All documents are prepared and finalized on the spot. |

Chester Library to exhibit regional high school students’ entries in congressional art competition |

Chesterfield County Public Library’s Chester Library will feature an exhibition of artwork created by high school students from Virginia’s 4th Congressional District. The work will be on display June 1–25. The exhibit is comprised of entries in the 2013 Congressional Art Competition, which offers high school students the chance to exhibit their art in the U.S. Capitol, an annual tradition that began in 1982. |

The Pocahontas Performances Premier Series will present its popular annual concert by the Richmond Youth Symphony, Sunday, June 2, 7 p.m., at Pocahontas State Park. This concert is co-sponsored by the Chesterfield County Department of Parks and Recreation and the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation. Bring a picnic, blankets or lawn chairs, and enjoy this free family-friendly concert. No alcohol or glass bottles are permitted, and there is a per-vehicle charge for parking. |

Swingin’ Seniors golf tournament coming June 4 |
Description: |
The Chesterfield County Department of Parks and Recreation is holding its Swingin’ Seniors Golf Tournament on Tuesday, June 4, at the First Tee Golf Course, 6736 Hunting Creek Rd. This tournament is open to golfers aged 50 and older. Teams of two should register, and indicate if they are part of a foursome. The format is two-person Captain’s Choice. The tournament includes 18 holes of golf, range balls, a cart, lunch and prizes, and will begin at 9 a.m. with a shotgun start. The entry fee is $60 per pair. |

Golf tournament to benefit Heaven for Hope Project |
Description: |
The First Baptist Church Centralia will hold their 10th Annual Charity Golf Tournament on Saturday, June 22. The Captain’s Choice format will have a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. at the First Tee of Chesterfield located at 6736 Hunting Creek Dr. The fee with proceeds benefitting the Haven for Hope Project is $60 each or $240 per foursome and includes range balls, golf cart and lunch. The event features a Longest Drive Competition, Closest to the Pin Competition, a raffle and mulligans. All entries must be submitted no later than Sunday, June 9. |
