Tyler Broach and Abigail Portyata, golfers who have honed their skills at First Tee of Chesterfield, will be headed for amateur competition at Pebble Beach Golf Links in California on July 6-8.
A competitive wheelchair softball league will begin this June at the Miracle League Field at the L.C. Bird High School Sports Complex, 10301 Courthouse Rd., Chesterfield. Sportable, a paralympic sport club, is partnering with the Miracle League to sponsor the softball program, which is open to individuals aged five and older with a physical disability.
The 2012 season for the Thomas Dale Knights boy’s soccer team has been another wildly successful campaign. It’s something the community should be used to by now. Since Mark Fowler took the reigns as head coach in 1998, it’s been one of the most successful and consistent programs in the Central Region- and with two championships and six state tournament appearances in the past nine years- it is a dynasty.
Thomas Dale’s boys soccer has found success in recent years. This year hasn’t been any different. Ranked third in the nation by ESPN’s Powerade Fab 50, the Knights tore through the regular season with an undefeated record. However, they came up short in the Central Region final against Cosby on Saturday, losing 1-0.
Three of the five seniors on the L. C. Bird girl’s basketball team have signed to play at the next level next season. This season, the girls finished at 24-3, but fell in the Regionals to Highland Springs, but continued the excellence that the area has gotten used to under head coach Chevette Waller.
Life Church, located at 16801 Harrowgate Rd., will host Mega Sports Camp. Mega Sports Camp is a camp where kids ages four-12 can do what they enjoy most: running, jumping and playing. Plus, it is a time for kids to strengthen physically and spiritually.
