It would be a game in which Thomas Dale got the best of the Monarchs by a score of 56-43, securing the Lady Knights third straight regular season district championship and tournament championship.
The evolution of the L.C. Bird girls’ basketball team has been a story to follow all season. That evolution reached a new level as they dispatched Cosby in the Dominion District finals 65-55 to secure the championship, as a balanced Bird offensive attack placed three players in double-figures in scoring. The title was the first for Bird since 2008.
The L.C. Bird boys’ basketball team fell in the semi-finals last week to Huguenot, in a closely fought game 55-52 as Huguenot’s Jareese Cooley hit a lay-up with 8.3 seconds to go, and hit one of two foul shots to seal the win. A desperation three point attempt by Bird came close, but was wide left.

Current PGA star John Rollins was preceded by World Golf Hall of Fame inductee Lanny Watkins, while brother Bobby Watkins continues his long career as a competitive member of the Nationwide Tour.
