Ka’lia Johnson’s high school career came to end last Saturday as the Lady Knights fell by the slim margin of five points, 70-65. The defeat came at the hands of Forest Hill High School (Woodbridge, VA) in the quarterfinals of the VHSL girl’s state tournament.
Bradley Johnston, a graduate of Thomas Dale in 2009 was voted Lindenwood University player of the week and NAIA National player of the week for volleyball (NCAA Division I-II). He is also on the fall semester dean’s list at Lindenwood. Bradley was 2009 state player of the year and state champion with Thomas Dale in 2008.
Adam White, a Thomas Dale High School senior, is a 6’1”, 240 lb. center who earned Second Team All-District honors as the Man in the Middle after helping the Knights capture the AAA Division Six State Championship in 2009.
“Don’t let this moment pass you by.” That’s the theme that L.C. Bird Head Coach Chuck Thomas has employed throughout his Skyhawk’s playoff run this season. Monday evening’s Central Region Tournament was no exception, as L.C. Bird captured its first regional championship since 2005.
Knights star Ka’lia Johnson stood stoically with her head bowed while the national anthem played, knowing that her and the Knights would have to play their best game of the season to avenge last season’s loss to Cosby and cut down the nets as regional champions.
