Olympic experience for local student athletes

Local Students will be participating in the International Children’s Games in Daegu, Korea this summer complete with an opening ceremony which includes a parade of more than 2000 coaches and athletes from 50 different countries, lighting of the torch, raising of the Games flag, and even reciting the athletes’ oath.

Village News recognizes outstanding performers on the court

The Village News has selected L.C. Bird Skyhawks junior guard Robert Johnson as its boys’ basketball player of the year. Johnson led Bird in scoring for the second straight season with 18.5 points per game and led them to another solid run in the postseason, falling to Petersburg 71-67 in the regional semi-finals.
