Warriors baseball win second straight baseball championship

Another season passes, and so does another successful campaign for Matoaca baseball. They cruised to defeat L.C. Bird and then Prince George in the Conference 12 championship game 6-0 to win their second straight district/conference championship, the first under new head coach Tim Haynes.

The Next Level: Lockett, Jordan, Lodge

After a great career at Matoaca Lockett, one of the team’s offensive threats, settled right into a platoon/starting role with the Yellow Jackets at third base. On the season, she hit .275 with a home run and seven RBI.

Lacey Waldrop and the Florida State Seminoles said goodbye to the 2014 season after advancing to the softball College World Series for the first time since 2004. They dropped decisions to No.1 Oregon and No.13 Baylor to be eliminated from the postseason.

Lacey Waldrop player of the year finalist, heads to College World Series

Thomas Dale alum and current Florida State softball pitcher Lacey Waldrop is a finalist for the 2014 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year. The announcement was made May 27, after press deadline.
