Warriors dominate Conference 12 wrestling championship

With a dominating performance, the Matoaca Warriors claimed the first ever Conference 12 wrestling championship last Saturday at Matoaca High School. Out of the 14 weight class categories, the Warriors claimed individual championships in 11 en route to a team triumph.

The Next Level: Wilson, Akins, Fulgham

After an excellent career at Thomas Dale, Wilson left as a record holder in three events- the 4 x 100, 4 x 400 relays and the 400m dash. The former Knight was about as versatile as they come in track events, participating in the long, triple and high jumps, and a multitude of running events.

The Next Level: Pegram, Reynolds, Howard

Pegram has made a splash playing for Chesapeake College, who is ranked eighth in the country among Division II junior colleges. The former Monarch is leading the 18-0 Skipjacks in scoring at 23.3 points per game and shooting an efficient 46 percent from the floor while averaging 6.2 rebounds and 5.1 assists per contest.

Local teen golfer shoots under par at Pinehurst

Young Chester golfer, Drew Brockwell, won the 13-year-old Hampton Roads U.S. Teen Golf Tour and qualified for the U.S. Teen World Championship in Pinehurst, N.C. in August.
