FOOTBALL: Week 9 recaps

The Skyhawks ruled the roost once again this week, improving to 9-0 on the year on senior night. After Clover Hill capitalized on a Terrance Ervin interception with a 95 yard touchdown pass to take an early lead, Bird reeled off 73 unanswered points.

Arena racing gaining traction in Central Virginia

Arena Racing started in Richmond three or four years ago and has grown into a series held at the Richmond Coliseum. The 2013-14 season runs from November 9 - April 11 and has seen a steady increase in popularity since its introduction to the Richmond area.

Skyhawk passing attack takes flight

Long known for its running attack, L.C. Bird needed something to get over the hump and into the promised land. A tall, athletic quarterback with a big arm from Henrico transferred to Bird last season when his family moved into the district. A state championship later, that quarterback is now a senior – Terrance Ervin.

Skyhawks making a statement on the volleyball court

The season head coach Sarah Iruegas arrived in 2010 the Skyhawks girls volleyball team played to a 2-16 record. The program progressively improved over the course of the past three years and this year’s Lady Skyhawks are 11-6 overall and a perfect 7-0 in conference 12 play.

Week 8 recaps: Bird, Dale, Meadowbrook blow out opponents

The Bird defense pitched their fifth shutout of the season and Earl Hughes rushed for 298 yards and four touchdowns to lift Bird over Cosby for their 22nd straight win and seventh straight victory over the Titans.
