Chesterfield County real estate values show mixed results

The total assessed value of all real estate in Chesterfield County declined 2.9 percent during calendar year 2011, according to the county’s Department of Real Estate Assessments. While the local economy has seen a notable uptick in hiring activity and brisker consumer spending, there has been only scant improvement in area housing markets. The total value of existing residential property in the county fell 5.3 percent in 2011.

On Saturday, Feb. 4, Chesterfield County will host an electronics recycling event at the Southern Area Convenience Center, 6700 Landfill Drive. The event will be held from 9:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. This event is for Chesterfield County residents only.

Ruritans hold annual spaghetti supper

Dale Ruritan will be holding a Spaghetti Supper on Friday, Feb. 10. Food will be served from 4:30 p.m. until 7 p.m. for an $8 donation. Profits from this supper will be used to fund Families of The Wounded at McQuire Hospital. Dale Ruritan is located at Route 10 and Chippenahm Parkway.

The Chesterfield County Police Department, in partnership with SAFE, Chesterfield’s substance abuse prevention coalition, helped residents safely dispose of several hundred pounds of expired and unneeded prescription and over-the-counter drugs Saturday.
