Rachel’s Challenge is coming to several schools this month. Named for Rachel Scott, the first student killed at Columbine High School in 1999, Rachel’s Challenge encourages people to replace acts of violence, bullying and negativity with acts of respect, kindness and compassion.
An important part of Rachel’s Challenge is building a supportive community. Parents and other community members are welcome to attend any of these informative sessions:
- Sept. 26 at 7 p.m. at Midlothian High, 401 Charter Colony Pkwy.
- Sept. 27 at 7 p.m. at Robious Middle, 2701 Robious Crossing Dr.
During the community sessions, parents will learn about Rachel’s Challenge and discover ways they can support their students and school in starting a chain reaction of kindness. The Rachel’s Challenge presentation includes graphic images from Columbine, so parents are advised not to bring to a community session children younger than sixth grade or children who might become overwhelmed by the intensity of the presentation.
