The Chester Family YMCA is the recipient of a $2,000 grant from Target. The grant is in support of the Chester Family YMCA Fun Club at Marguerite Christian Elementary School.
The licensed after-school program – a collaboration between the Y and Marguerite Christian Elementary School – provides fully subsidized child care for 28 children from Colonial Ridge, a Section 8 housing community.
As part of the Chester Family YMCA Fun Club, the Y offers Fun Club Art, which is an eight-week program that helps introduce children to various forms of art, including sculpting, painting, pottery and drawing. On their last week, children take a field trip to a museum or visit a local arts and craft store where they can create their own art.
“The Y is committed to youth development in our community. Through Target’s support, we are able to provide at-risk youth academic assistance and high-quality arts education, which helps them to be successful in school and in the work place,” said Kathy Jentgen, Group Vice President for the Chester Family YMCA.
The Chester Family YMCA Fun Club always welcomes volunteers to make a positive impact on children and to enhance the overall program. To learn more, visit the Chester Family YMCA.
