A competitive wheelchair softball league will begin this June at the Miracle League Field at the L.C. Bird High School Sports Complex, 10301 Courthouse Rd., Chesterfield. Sportable, a paralympic sport club, is partnering with the Miracle League to sponsor the softball program, which is open to individuals aged five and older with a physical disability. The games are held on a hard surface with a 16-inch softball, allowing players to keep one hand on their wheelchair while catching the ball without a glove. Wheelchair Softball follows the official rules of 16-inch slow pitch softball and is approved by the Amateur Softball Association of America.
The league will play Thursday nights, 6 p.m.-7:30 p.m., June 21-August 23. An introductory clinic will be held at the first practice. For more information, or to register, visit http://sportable.org/ [2] or call 340-2991.
