Clayton Hall, Thomas Dale High School’s senior Class president, conducted his final meeting of the senior class during the opening of the 104th Commencement for the Class of 2012, Wednesday, June 8 at 7 p.m. His remarks of the accomplishments made during the year for the seniors kicked-off the exercises on a high note for the 548 graduating seniors.
Platform speakers included Dr. Marcus Newsome, Superintendent, Chesterfield County Public Schools, giving two $1,000 scholarships and ending with a prayer for the seniors; Dorothy Jaeckle, supervisor, Bermuda District, left the seniors with the reminder that “life is about attitude”…changing your life from a “Why do I have to do it person to a I can do it person” adding that “it will change your life.”; Carrie Coyner, School Board representative, Bermuda District, message to the seniors concerned integrity and making the right choices.
Salutatorian Kelsey Cunningham spoke to her fellow classmates about overcoming obstacles and Valedictorian Ainsley Parrish shared her thoughts on what lies ahead in their future and all the memories she and her class had.
Kelsey Cunningham and Cameron O’Bryan Strange received the Superintendent Awards. Mallory Lambeth Seal received the Faculty Leadership Award and Shelby Augusta Bartilotti received the J. Wilson Crump Award Scholarship.
The choir, band and orchestra gave outstanding performances.
Rebroadcasting of the graduation is scheduled for Wednesday, June 20 at 7 p.m.
