Chesterfield County has unveiled a new way for the public to receive emergency information. Chesterfield Alert is a mass-notification system enabling emergency messages to be sent by email, text message and phone. People choose if and how they want to receive the notifications.
Chesterfield Alert will only be used to issue emergency information, with the exception of an annual test to ensure the system is functioning properly. Recipients’ contact information will not be shared in any way or used for other purposes. Examples of when Chesterfield Alert notifications would go out include impending natural disasters, hazardous-materials spills, notices to shelter in place and utilities emergencies.
Signing up to receive notifications is easy and takes just a few minutes by visiting chesterfieldalert.com. There, users are prompted to set up usernames and passwords, which will enable them to manage their Chesterfield Alert accounts.
