Police have arrested a woman in connection with embezzlement that occurred at Chester United Methodist Church, 12132 Percival St.
Police said Jerri S. Hunter, 39, took in excess of $500,000 from the church over a period of several years. Officials are still working to determine exactly how much money was taken. Hunter, of the 1200 block of West City Point Street in Hopewell, was employed as the church’s finance administrator.
On Monday, July 29, Hunter was arrested in Suffolk, Va., by Virginia State Police on 11 counts of felony embezzlement. On Wednesday, July 31, three additional felony embezzlement warrants were issued for Hunter, who is now being held at Riverside Regional Jail.
