Medic two, a unit from Manchester Fire Station, was transporting a patient from Chesterfield to VCU Medical Center, when on March 28 at 1:41 p.m., at Broad and 11th Streets, they were hit by a truck. “No one was injured,” said Lt. Jason Elmore of Chesterfield Fire and EMS. “A medic unit from Richmond Ambulance Authority responded and transported the patient to the hospital.” The cause of the collision is under investigation.
Brush fire behind DMV
A brush fire was reported at the 5700 block of Quiet Pine Circle on March 30 at 2:27 p.m. Fire personnel from Chester Fire Station along with a battalion chief were dispatched to the emergency. When personnel arrived on scene they reported a brush fire about one half an acre in size and moving through brush behind a garage. A few minutes later a second brush fire was reported off Branders Creek Drive behind the Chester DMV office. A request by the battalion chief shift commander went out for an additional fire engine. A unit was then dispatched from Airport Fire Station and an additional battalion chief was added to supervise the operation at the second brush fire. Crews worked fast, quickly bringing both fires under control and extinguishing them. The tedious process of packing up heavy fires then began, while firefighters also made an additional check to be sure all embers had been extinguished. Battalion Chief -Shift Commander Rick Edinger said the cause is under investigation.
On March 30 at 3:57 p.m., a motorcycle crash was reported on Willis Road at Quinnford Blvd. Fire and medical personnel from Centralia Fire Station along with county police were dispatched. Command requested an additional medical unit and a Medic unit from Bensley Fire Station was dispatched. Two people were transported to a hospital. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
Four CAR crash on I-95
On March 28 at 6:49 a.m., a motor vehicle crash was reported on Interstate 95 northbound at Willis Road. Dispatched to the call were fire and medical personnel from Bensley and Centralia fire stations along with Virginia State Police. A four vehicle collision was discovered. As rescue and medical personnel worked, providing aid to the injured, traffic backed up for three miles. Two people were transported to a hospital. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
