Florida State sophomore pitcher Lacey Waldrop has been named Atlantic Coast Conference Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week for March 4-10, the conference office announced.
Waldrop threw 12.2 innings and held the NC State Wolfpack to just one earned run as she picked up two wins. Last Saturday, she came within one out of throwing her second no-hitter of the season while striking out a career-high 12 hitters, including the first nine outs recorded in the game.
On March 10, the Chester native registered her third shutout of the season and reached double digit strikeouts again with 10. Waldrop went 2-0 with a 0.55 ERA for the week while holding opposing hitters to a .093 batting average. Waldrop has shown a greater propensity for striking out the opposition this season, recording three double-digit strikeout games in her 13 starts.
Waldrop has now been named ACC Pitcher of the Week three times in her career.
Currently, Waldrop is 12-4 on the season after picking up two wins against rival University of North Carolina last week. She leads the team with a 1.45 ERA.
