Chesterfield County Police, working in conjunction with the Chesterfield County Fire Marshal’s Office, have arrested a man in connection with a brush fire that occurred Friday, Dec. 14, in the 8900 block of River Road.
Police said the suspect, Matthew H. Hawkins, 45, set a brush fire in a wooded area that ultimately burned several acres. Hawkins, of no permanent address, was arrested and charged with arson.
He is being held in the Chesterfield County Jail pending a hearing in Chesterfield County General District Court.
