Chesterfield launches tourism website

Sports tournaments, swim meets, mud runs, bike trails and cross-country meets attract thousands of new visitors to Chesterfield County annually.

With a goal of welcoming visitors to the region and promoting special events and tourism-related activities to residents, Chesterfield Economic Development recently unveiled a new website, VisitChesterfieldVA.com.

The new site provides an attractive and easy-to-navigate list of upcoming events that is sorted by date or by a dropdown toolbar with tabs listing Arts & Culture, History, Sports, Recreation & Leisure, Lodging & Dining and News. Featured events with photos are located on the main page, which also highlights a Twitter feed, Flickr photo gallery and news.

“Tourism is a key component of our economic development message,” said John D. Watt, tourism manager for Chesterfield Economic Development. “Chesterfield County has so much to offer and we want to ensure that our citizens and our visitors know all the possibilities that can make their quality of life even better.”

The website also describes Chesterfield County’s rich collection of historic sites, cultural assets, sports venues, recreation and leisure destinations. Each of the nearly 60 featured attractions have links to a map, contact information and individual sites.

For more information, go to VisitChesterfieldVA.com, or contact Watt at 318-8550 or John@chesterfieldbusiness.com.
