The Rotary Club of Chester donated $1,000 to Boy Scout Troop 819 of Chester on June 6. Berkeley Galstan, the Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, accepted the check from his father, Chester Rotary Club member, Dr. Sam Galstan, who is also the Charter Organization Representative of Troop 819. The Rotary Club has supported Troop 819 for a number of years, and this donation will be used to help support activities such as summer camp and camping, as well as purchasing equipment and helping to reduce dues for the Scouts.
Troop 819 is 80 years old and is one of the oldest troops in this region, and has been sponsored throughout its history by St. John’s Episcopal Church in Chester. The troop meets Monday nights at the Scout cabin at the intersection of Dodomeade Street and Railroad Avenue in Chester, near St. John’s Church.
