The Fort Lee Army Band wowed area residents at a concert held a week ago on Monday, June 11.
Approximately 350 area residents enjoyed almost perfect weather for the music in the Chester Village Green. Many of those present described the band’s 90-minute concert as a “wow” event. The band kicked off the evening with a moving rendition of the Star Spangled Banner featuring a strong female soloist. Additional vocalists followed during the concert that included big band, jazz and patriotic music.
A four-member drum group highlighted a medley of military tunes honoring those veterans in attendance from various armed services. This was the band’s 10th annual concert in Chester, which is sponsored each year by the Kiwanis Club of Chester and the Village News as a way to thank the community.
