Last spring, Chesterfield Community High School held a contest for a school slogan, according to information from Library Media Specialist Carol DeMasi. The winning choice was “Eagle Pride, Soar High,” designed by 2009 senior Raymeka White. CCHS Teacher of the Year Dawn Lentz designed two mosaics to go over the gym entry doors and students Juhahn Robinson, Isaiah Robertson, Breinne Dean-Young, Kenny White and Adrianna Cross, who graduated 2009, pieced the glass into the mosaics over the course of a year, DeMasi said. The glass was donated primarily by The Village Glassworks. Students broke glass, including mirrors, bottles and plexiglass, with hammers and placed each piece of glass individually. This project was a way for CCHS students to take ownership of their building, she said, giving it its own unique personality and creating school identity.
