The Rotary Club of Chester, in partnership with Sabra Foods, will again host its very popular BBQ Cook-off Competition on Thursday, May 17, from 5 p.m.-8:30 p.m. on the Chester Village Green.
This year, six professionals have been invited to compete for bragging rights for the best BBQ in town. The Halligan Bar and Grill, Sibley’s Bar-B-Que, Brock’s BAR-B-QUE, King’s Korner, F.W. Sullivan’s and Capt. Rob’s Pigalicious Barbecue have all accepted the challenge. Several local residents will also be competing in an amateur event category.
“Grillin’ on the Green has replaced our annual Happenin’ on the Green as Chester Rotary’s annual fund raising event,” said Chris Sovine, Chester Rotary Club member. “All proceeds go to support local charities and nonprofits that do so much good work in our community.”
Come and enjoy great food, live entertainment and family fun. There will be wine tastings provided by First Colony and Wintergreen wineries and microbrewery beer tastings from Specialty Beverages. There will also be a special area of planned games, large inflatables, face painting, hot dogs, chips and ice cream just for the kids. 93.1 The Wolf and 98.9 Liberty will be in attendance to keep everything lively.
A $20 ticket gets you a variety of beef and chicken BBQ from all the competitors, plus beans and slaw, along with a vote in the People’s Choice category. Children, 10 and under, are free with an adult. No coolers will be permitted on the grounds, but guests are encouraged to bring their lawn chairs.
Pick up your tickets at the following locations: Brocks Bar-b-que, Central Park Deli, FW Sullivan’s, The Halligan, Huckleberry Café and Catering, Ironbridge Sports Park, King’s Korner, Minuteman Press of Chester, Omega Learning Center, Sibley’s Bar-B-Que, Village Bank, Chesterfield Town Center or The Village Grill.
