County takes back 390 pounds of medication during event

The Chesterfield County Police Department, in partnership with the Drug Enforcement Administration and SAFE, Chesterfield’s substance abuse prevention coalition, helped residents safely dispose of several hundred pounds of expired and unneeded prescription and over-the-counter drugs last Saturday.

Chesterfield County Police, as part of the DEA’s National Take-Back Initiative, hosted a Medication Take-Back on April 28 at the Chesterfield County Police Department Clover Hill Support Facility. During the four-hour event, police, DEA agents and SAFE volunteers collected 390 pounds of unused, unwanted and potentially harmful drugs. A total of 198 residents dropped off medications.
