Ettrick celebrates Dr. Seuss Day

What better way to celebrate Dr. Seuss’s birthday than to have someones’ employees come read to the children at Ettrick Elementary? On Dr. Seuss’s birthday March 2, the employees of Capital One came to Ettrick Elementary and read books to the students. In addition to reading and writing about Dr. Seuss the students and teachers wore crazy hats and hair for the day.

The first graders made a bulletin board entitled “We Speak for the Trees” to support the first grade Science unit on conservation of natural resources, such as trees. Remember the message of the Dr. Seuss book The Lorax, “Unless someone like you , cares a whole awful lot , Nothing is going to get better. It’s not.” Save trees and plant trees is what the children of Ettrick Elementary want you to do.

Ettrick Elementary

I am loving this picture with the "Million Dollar Smiles" of Ettrick children. There is no place better in Virginia than this little school. I am so proud of these fifth graders and how hard they worked this past week on their writing SOLs. We are truly blessed to have the teachers, leaders, and parents who support such an amazing group of young people. Rock the Standardized Test this Spring... there is no holding back and Ettrick kid!!

Love your teacher and friend,
Mrs. Coffey
