The Chesterfield County Department of Youth Planning and Development is seeking nominations for the 2012 Outstanding Youth Awards. All nominees must be Chesterfield County residents. Youths, 12-18 years old, who have demonstrated an exemplary commitment to their communities, neighborhoods or schools, and adults over 18 who have contributed positively to the development of county youths, are eligible. Nominations must be submitted by Friday, April 6, before 5 p.m.
Youth nominees must have demonstrated one or more of the following traits: courage, compassion, leadership, and community or school service.
Adults must have demonstrated fortitude, service or mentorship while serving Chesterfield County youths.
Nominees and winners will be recognized at the 29th Annual Outstanding Youth Awards Ceremony on Monday, May 14, 7 p.m., at L.C. Bird High School. The event is sponsored by the Youth Services Citizen Board and Midlothian Kiwanis Club.
