Visa gift card fraud

The Chesterfield County/Colonial Heights Crime Solvers program needs your help to identify a female suspect who defrauded a women’s clothing store in Colonial Heights.

On Thursday, Feb. 2, three females entered the Upstairs Store in Southpark Mall together just prior to 6 p.m. One of the females brought approximately $460 worth of clothing items to the register and handed the clerk a VISA gift card. As the clerk swiped the card, it appeared to be an approved transaction, but the card reader went offline. Being suspicious of the machine’s actions, the clerk later contacted the bank listed on the card, and the bank explained that the transaction would be denied once the reader came back online.

Surveillance cameras captured images of the suspect. You may view photos at From the main page, simply select the Crime of the Week link.
