County takes back 675 pounds of medication

The Chesterfield County Police Department, in partnership with SAFE, Chesterfield’s substance abuse prevention coalition, helped residents safely dispose of several hundred pounds of expired and unneeded prescription and over-the-counter drugs Saturday.

Chesterfield County Police hosted a Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, Jan. 28, in the Hull Street Station parking lot. During the four-hour event, police and volunteers — including those from SAFE, the Chesterfield Health District Medical Reserve Corps and the police department — collected 675 pounds of unused, unwanted and potentially harmful drugs. A total of 154 residents dropped off medications.
