CTC dental students provide free services to students

Chesterfield Technical Centers’ Dental Occupations 1 and 2 classes held their third annual Dental Clinic for Victoria Elementary and Kenbridge Elementary Schools in November.

The students gave free cleanings and fluoride treatments to 501 children.

Students learn Dental Assisting and Lab Technician skills in their Dental Occupations class and used those skills to give back to children in the community that do not have dental insurance or who are not able to go to the dentist.  A total of 60 students volunteered along with two instructors, Regena Barthelemy and Melinda Gullotti. Also volunteering was Dentist Bob Bigelow. He screened the children for decay and provided the cleanings and fluoride treatments.  The group gives a special thank you to Rob Kent, who drove the school bus for Lunenburg 2011 and who also volunteered to empty the trash during the clinic and to Scott Steinruck, who checked the students in and out of the clinical area which helped to make things run smoothly.
