Mayor of Daegu, Korea extends invitation to Chesterfield

Chesterfield, Virginia is one of 6 U.S. cities to receive an invitation to attend the International Children’s Games.   Sanctioned by the International Olympic Committee, the International Children’s Games is the largest international youth sporting event and cultural exchange for athletes ages 12-15 in the world.  The number of cities from each country are limited so that approx. 50 different countries can participate.  

A delegation of 24 students, coaches, and officials organized by Team Chesterfield will represent Chesterfield County this July in Daegu, Korea.  Applications are now available for students at www.teamchesterfield.org.   Coaches interested in volunteering are encouraged to contact the organizing committee at teamchesterfield@comcast.net.  

Five days of  food and lodging will be provided for all students and coaches selected to participate.   Athletes also have an opportunity to earn a $500.00  need-based scholarship offered by Haley Buick GMC.  Students may apply to compete in swimming, track & field, tennis, soccer, or volleyball.
