Four additional Chesterfield teachers have achieved National Board certification, which is one of the highest credentials in education, and two National Board Certified Teachers have renewed their certification. They will be honored during a regional pinning ceremony at 5 p.m. Jan. 12 at Virginia Commonwealth University in the W.E. Singleton Center for the Performing Arts, 922 Park Ave.

National Board Certification is considered the gold standard for excellence in teaching. A voluntary assessment program designed to develop, recognize and retain accomplished teachers, National Board certification is achieved through a performance-based assessment that typically takes one to three years to complete. Certification lasts 10 years, then may be renewed for an additional 10 years.
