Central Virginia Waste Management Authority (CVWMA) is now offering larger carts as an added convenience to recycling at the curb. The new 96-gallon cart is available for a fee by any interested homeowner currently eligible for curbside recycling services.

The 96-gallon cart has wheels, making it much easier to maneuver; as well as a lid to protect the recyclables from exposure to wind, rain and snow and will also help to keep wildlife out of the recycled materials, and a steel bar for easy tipping. The dimensions are 32.5” deep, 27.5” wide and 46” tall. Interested homeowners can purchase the new larger cart online at our website www.cvwma.com for a $65.00 user fee. Delivery will be provided by TFC Recycling staff within 2-3 weeks from date of purchase.

Curbside recyclers can use the existing 24-gallon green recycling bin or any rigid alternate container of their choice to recycle in at the curb. Any container over 40 gallons must have a steel bar for easy tipping by our contractor.

Recycling diverts waste from the landfill to save resources, energy, landfill space and reduce pollution. With the “single stream” collection service, there is no need to sort. Just recycle your aluminum and steel cans, #1 and #2 narrow neck plastics (no caps, please), mixed paper (such as newspaper, magazines, junk mail, cereal and cracker boxes), cardboard (please flatten), and glass bottles and jars. It’s that easy.

For more information on the different recycling options at the curb as well as other recycling programs, call the Recycling Hotline at 340-0900 or visit www.cvwma.com or on Facebook.
