The Chesterfield County/Colonial Heights Crime Solvers program is asking for your help to solve a shooting that occurred in 1991.
On Oct. 4, 1991, Walter H. Eley was locking up the former Ettrick Supermarket at 3615 E. River Rd. in Chesterfield at approximately 10 p.m. As he walked to his car with the store’s deposit bag, a white or cream colored Cadillac pulled into the lot and blocked his car. A man got out of the passenger side, approached Eley and demanded the money.
The suspect shot Eley three times with a small-caliber handgun and fled the scene. Thankfully, Eley survived the wounds.
The suspect was a heavyset black male, 20-30 years old.
If you have information on who may have been involved with the shooting of Walter Eley, you can call Crime Solvers, 748-0660, send a tip through crimesolvers.net or Text-A-Tip, by texting TIP699 plus your tip to 274637 (CRIMES). You will be anonymous, and you would earn a cash reward of up to $1,000 if your tip helped solve the case.
