Virginia Credit Union awards scholarships to 7 students

Bobbi Altizer, of Chester, a student at John Tyler Community College, will attend Ferris State University in Michigan due in part to a scholarship from Virginia Credit Union. The credit union awarded college scholarships to seven students in Chesterfield County through its 2011 Dorothy J. Hall Memorial Scholarship Program.

The students were selected on the basis of scholastic achievement, community service, extracurricular activities, an essay, and work to help defray the cost of education. Since 1991, the annual program has awarded more than $680,000 to student members of the credit union.
Virginia Credit Union is a not-for-profit financial cooperative owned by its more than 200,000 members.
