The Chesterfield County/Colonial Heights Crime Solvers program had another successful year in 2010.
In 2010, Crime Solvers received more than 800 tips through the telephone hotline, website and text messaging. Those tips helped law enforcement officials resolve more than 200 crimes and apprehend 34 fugitives. Approximately 100 cash rewards were approved, with the total amount exceeding $21,000.
Operationally, in light of a challenging economy, the program remained fiscally sound and maintained the technology used to accept web and text-message tips. The program also expanded its media coverage to include Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.
Chesterfield County/Colonial Heights Crime Solvers, in a press release, thanked the law-enforcement agencies and investigators, media sponsors and concerned citizens and business operators who called in tips and provided monetary donations.
