Salute our Troops banner in Afghanistan, ChesterFest date set

Salute our Troops

Salute the Troops, one of the many activities during last year’s ChesterFest, gave community members a chance to send a message to troops serving in Afghanistan. Whoever wanted to send a short thank you note to the troops signed a huge banner that was then sent overseas. Hundreds of notes covered the banner by the end of the event. Christine Bivins sent the banner to her husband, Robert L.  Bivens II, and the men of the HMH-772 Squadron. Bivens is the second from the right in the picture above.

The Chester Community Association has scheduled its ninth annual ChesterFest for Saturday, Sept. 25. The event, which features food, arts and crafts, children’s events, music and the World Champion Cherry Pie Eating Championship takes place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, go to chesterfest.org and click on contact.
