Local is state skeet shooting champion

Chesterfield County native Wayne Kidd recently won the 2010 Virginia State Skeet Championships, according to information from Kim Kidd. The championship was held last month in Chase City, Va.

Kidd, a member of the National Skeet Shooting Association, scored higher overall than approximately 175 other shooters in attendance from across the state. Kidd, 20, has been shooting competitively for about seven years. He shoots four guns: A 12-gauge shotgun, 20-gauge shotgun, 28-gauge shotgun and .410-gague shotgun.

He attends Lindenwood University in St. Charles, Mo. The school has the largest skeet shooting team in the country, and Kidd attends on a skeet shooting scholarship and shoots on the varsity team.  He is currently training for the national championships, which will be held in San Antonio, Texas, in October.
