Chester native earns Eagle Scout rank

Ronald Brown, Jr., son of Cynthia and Ronald Brown, Sr., obtained the rank of Eagle Scout on June 23. Ronald, 18, is a 2010 graduate of Thomas Dale High School. He is a member of Troop 2877, which is sponsored by Chester Presbyterian Church.

While in Cub Scouts, Ronald earn Cub Scouting’s highest award, the Arrow of Light. Since crossing over to Boy Scout Troop 2877, Ronald has served in several roles in the troop. Throughout his journey, Ronald has been guided by three Scoutmasters: Brad Peebles, Ron Elder and Tony Samartano. With the help of his Scoutmasters, Ronald was able to complete all of his merit badges and achieve the rank of Eagle.

Ronald was also nominated by his fellow scouts to join a special brotherhood of scouting, the Order of the Arrow. Since joining, Ronald has participated in a service weekend at Camp T. Brady Saunders.

At Thomas Dale, he earned many achievements, including an Advanced Diploma, membership in the National Beta Club and membership in the National Technical Honors Society. Ronald will soon begin college at Longwood University in Farmville, Va., where he plans to major in computer science, with a minor in computer security, forensics and law.
