A host of local students have been named to Dean’s Lists at colleges in and outside Virginia.
Several area residents are among the 486 Virginia Military Institute cadets who were recently named to the Dean’s List for the second semester of academic year 2009-10, according to information from the school. To be eligible for the Dean’s List, a cadet must have a term grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale and no grade below C.
Among the 486 cadets are:
Brooke Melinda, a resident of Chesterfield, has been named to the spring 2010 Dean’s List at Roger Williams University, located in Bristol, R.I., according to information from the school.
Full-time students who complete 12 or more credits per semester and earn a GPA of 3.4 or higher are placed on the Dean’s List that semester, provided that they have not received certain grades, the school says.
Rebecca Arline Mayberry, of Chester, was named to the Dean’s List at Mary Baldwin College, located in Staunton, Va. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tim Tait. Michelle Rose Pinsky, of Richmond, was named to the college’s Honors List. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jeffrey Pinsky.
At Mary Baldwin College, spots on the Dean’s and Honors Lists are reserved for degree candidates who have maintained high grade point averages over a semester of at least 12 credit hours of work. Students qualify for the Honors List with grade point averages of 3.75-4.0, and Dean’s List honorees earn 3.50-3.74 grade point averages.
