Chester residents to serve as Hokie Camp counselors

Three Chester residents have been selected as Virginia Tech Hokie Camp counselors, according to information from the school.

Nathan Lavinka, a senior majoring in marketing in the Pamplin College of Business, Ryan Horn, a sophomore majoring in accounting in the Pamplin College of Business, and Casey Clark, a senior majoring in civil engineering in the College of Engineering, were selected by Virginia Tech’s New Students Programs to be among this summer’s Hokie Camp counselors, a press release from the school says.

Virginia Tech’s New Students Programs selected 150 Hokie Camp counselors to welcome the class of 2014, the release says. Hokie Camp counselors guide students through three days of activities, group competitions and sessions that teach new students about life at Virginia Tech.

Hokie Camp takes place in three sessions at Smith Mountain Lake: Aug. 9-11; Aug. 12-14 and Aug. 16-18. Registration costs $195, and includes transportation to and from Virginia Tech, lodging, meals and a T-shirt. Students can sign up online by logging into HokieSPA at
