The United FC U12 girls Elite team completed its run at a Virginia State Cup Championship with an unbelievable 2-1 victory over Wags Division 1 powerhouse Ashburn in the final game, according to information from Coach Joe Farrell. United took the lead through Destinie Carter early in first half of the match, which was contested the weekend of May 22-23. Ashburn equalized at the 54-minute mark of the match, but United FC midfielder Jo Jo Taylor put away the winning goal with one minute remaining to propel the team to the state title, securing the group’s place in state cup and club history, Farrell says.
“This is a wonderful achievement by this group of girls who have worked very hard together for over three years to become the first Chesterfield team ever to win a state cup,” Farrel says. “It truly was a team effort and they all should be so proud.”
