Cat woman sentenced to six months in jail

Patti Wheeler, 52, was sentenced last week on felony counts of vandalism and animal cruelty. The veterinarian aide was sentenced to six months in jail for housing 56 cats in a house on Treely Rd.

According to reports, the house reeked of cat urine, children’s swimming pools were filled with cat feces and dead cats were found throughout the home.

Bob Gary, who once owned the house where the cats were kept, now lives across the street. “It was a nice house,” Gary says. “I think she would find the cats and bring them here to protect them.” He adds that he wouldn’t buy the house back for a million dollars.

Chesterfield Circuit Court Judge Michael C. Allen sentenced Wheelerto five years in prison. Four years and nine months were suspended on the vandalism. Wheeler was also sentenced to two 12-month jail terms for animal cruelty. The judge suspended all but three months of that time. Wheeler will serve six-months in jail.
