Chesterfield County is pleased to announce that Susan Pollard has been selected as the county’s new director of public affairs, effective June 9. Pollard brings to the position 20 years of public communications and media experience, including government experience with the Commonwealth of Virginia and the City of Chesapeake.
Pollard’s current role is director of communications for the Commonwealth of Virginia, Department of General Services, where she is responsible for oversight of external communications. In this role, Pollard also has served other state agencies as their director of communications.
Pollard has a bachelor’s degree in urban studies from Virginia Commonwealth University and a master’s degree in public relations from Michigan State University. Pollard is accredited in public relations (APR), has television production experience, and also has served as an adjunct instructor for several local universities. Pollard will lead the staff and manage the daily operations of the Public Affairs Department for county government.
