Several animal welfare agencies in Central Virginia, including the Chesterfield County Animal Shelter, will participate in Maddie’s Pet Adoption Days on Saturday, May 31, and Sunday, June 1. This is the first time agencies in Virginia have participated in this free adoption event, which is now in its fifth year. The goal of the event, which is sponsored by Maddie’s Fund, is to find loving homes for homeless dogs and cats by waiving all adoption fees for the public. For each dog or cat adopted, Maddie’s Fund donates up to $2,000 to the participating organization.
On Saturday, May 31, free adoption events will take place at the Animal Shelter, 9300 Public Works Rd., from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., and at PetSmart, 12264 Chattanooga Plz., from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. On Sunday, June 1, a free adoption event will take place at the Animal Shelter from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. The donations the Chesterfield County Animal Shelter receives from Maddie’s Fund will be used to spay and neuter homeless animals and help find them homes.
