On Saturday April 26, members of the Matoaca High School American Red Cross Club and their families and friends volunteered at the Virginia Home 5K Fun Walk. This is the fifth year the Fun Walk has taken place, and the MAHS American Red Cross Club has volunteered each time. The Virginia Home is a private, non-profit that provides nursing, therapeutic and residential care to adult Virginians with irreversible disabilities. Members of the club teamed up with different residents to assist them in the walk by: helping push their wheelchairs, guiding them through the course around beautiful Bird Park and mostly cheering them on and making them feel safe and cared for while participating in the event. The weather was beautiful for the event. All the volunteers had a lot of fun while serving others in our community.
