A little more for the pedestrian

An item on the agenda, last week, of the Chesterfield Board of Supervisors authorized the County Administrator to award a construction contract up to $772,580 to the lowest bidder for the construction of a sidewalk on Osborne Road from the end of the existing sidewalk at Cliff Lawn Drive to the Shopping Center at Osborne Road and Jefferson Davis Highway.

The sidewalk will be approximately one-half mile in length.

In October 2011, as part of a revenue sharing agreement with the Commonwealth of Virginia (typically a matching funds agreement with the state matching Chesterfield’s portion of the cost), the Board authorized staff to proceed with the design and right-of-way acquisition of the Osborne Road sidewalk project.

In order to avoid delaying the project, the Board  was requested to authorize to award a construction contract.

The Board also requested to authorize any change orders that might arise.
