If you love to cook and are always looking for unique recipes to try, then the latest fundraiser cookbook that has been released from The Woman’s Club of Chester. With “Celebrations from Our Kitchen to Yours,” you could begin your dinner party with an appetizer from one of Arline McGuire’s favorites, “Bacon Water Chestnuts.” Barbara Micou, who worked with Chesterfield Schools for many years, has several soup and salad recipes. Betty Matthew, chairman for the Chesterfield Center for the Arts Foundation had submitted her favorite “Chicken Broccoli Casserole” recipe and it sounds easy and delicious.
If you are looking for an unusual main dish, you could try long-time Chester resident, Sara Foy Eanes, favorite “Formal Yardbirds.” It could become one of your family favorites as well. There are also bread and dessert recipes, like Patsy Elliott’s favorite fudge recipe where she adds, “No one will know you didn’t stir and stir all afternoon.”
Doris Hancock, club member, said the favorite recipes have been provided by its members and friends. Some of the recipes provided are from members who have passed, but through sharing within the club their favorite recipes have lived on, such as Laura Sloan’s “Half Way House Snaps.”
The cost of “Celebrations from our Kitchen to Yours” is $12 each. These will make wonderful Mother’s Day, birthday and Christmas gifts,” said Hancock. “So order yours today.”
