Ettrick names teacher of the year

Mrs. Stephanie Haines has been selected by her peers as Teacher of the Year for Ettrick Elementary School for the 2013-2014 school year.  Mrs. Haines is loved and adored by her students and the staff of Ettrick Elementary School.  She gives her heart and soul to her students and according to student, Markayla Evans, “She is the best teacher ever.”

Mrs. Haines began her teaching career eleven years ago.  She began teaching at Ettrick Elementary School in 2009, where she has taught third grade.  Student, Dawynel Johnson, said, “She is very special. Mrs. Haines teaches us things that we don’t know and she is a great teacher.”

Ettrick Principal, Teressa Clary, stated that “Stephanie Haines embodies all the characteristics that someone would desire in an educator.  She has the right combination of head and heart that is needed to lead young people so that they grow into a well-rounded student.  She develops not only the academic aspect of the child, but she inspires the child to be their very best socially, emotionally and academically. Mrs. Haines is a committed educator who tutors struggling students before and after school three days a week.”

Former Teacher of the Year and colleague, Crystal Richardson, commented that “Mrs. Haines is very organized.  She has a wonderful personality.  She is very helpful to her teammates.  I have truly enjoyed having her as a co-worker.”  Grade level co-worker, Ashley Mawyer, says of Mrs. Haines, “She is an outstanding, creative teacher and a wonderful mentor.”  Mrs. Haines has been Ms. Mawyer’s mentor teacher since she arrived at Ettrick in 2012.

Mrs. Haines is married to Greg Haines and they have three sons.    She has taught third, fourth and pre-kindergarten.  Ettrick Elementary is so pleased to be able to announce Mrs. Stephanie Haines as Ettrick’s Teacher of the Year.
