Matoaca FBLA recognized for achievement

Matoaca High School Future Business Leaders of American participated in the Regional FBLA Conference, hosted by John Tyler Community College, on March 6. Many Matoaca FBLA members placed in the various regional contests and were recognized for their achievements.  

Regional place students included Nick Carmichael – 2nd Database Design; Ellie Miller and  Christian Chisolm – 2nd Digital Video Production; Jared Phelps – 3rd Help Desk; and Hannah Shaffer – 2nd Impromptu Speaking.

Students who placed and also qualified to compete in the Virginia State FBLA competition April 4-6  in Reston, Virginia include Nate Willis – 2nd Business Calculations; Leah Jenkins – 2nd Business Communication; Brent Hosein – 2nd Business Math; Rahil Kabrawala – 1st Computer Applications; Dylan Abel and Wes Greiner – 1st Computer Game & Simulation Programming; Curtis Strickland – 1st Computer Problem Solving; Jimshad Farooque – 1st Cyber Security; Sarah Patton – 1st Intro to Business Communication; Maya Shirley – 1st Intro to Information Technology;  Eghosa Edamwen – 1st Networking Concepts; Brenda Tapp – 1st Public Service Announcement; and Sam McPeak and Jake Maybury – 1st Web Site Design.

Sarah Patton was also inducted as Regional Vice President for the 2014-15 school year. Ellie Miller is the current FBLA state secretary and the Matoaca High School club president.
