The 76th Anniversary Celebration of Matoaca Elementary School will be held on Saturday, March 22, from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. at the historic school, 6627 River Road, South Chesterfield. The celebration is open to the community and will celebrate with historical stories, special art work, a visit from the Mattaponi Indians and much more.
As part of the opening celebration, Chief Custalow and members of the Mattaponi Indian Reservation will do a Native American dance followed by Keith McCray, a former student and community leader, presenting the history of Matoaca Elementary. Former students and faculty in attendance will also be recognized.
All grades will display their work either in the hallways or present their projects during the Walkthrough and Tours portion of the event related to the past, present and future of the students, as well as taking part in the formal activities on stage.
