The Next Level: Roulo, Hobbs, Ramos

Matoaca High School
Junior at George Mason University
Roulo was a four year letter winner in both football and a wrestling, a celebrated athlete on both the gridiron and the mat. On the football field, he was named to the All-Central District first team on defensive line. On the mat, Roulo won a AAA state championship in 2010 at 140. The now Patriot was a four-time NHSCA high school national champion. The junior originally attended Buffalo, but transferred to George Mason for the 2013-2014 school year. Roulo (now wrestling at 149) finished 2nd in the Metro Athletic Conference as a freshman and sophomore. The former Warrior is the all-time leader in wrestling victories at Matoaca with 179.


Thomas Dale High School
Senior at Christopher Newport
Hobbs is enjoying her second season as starting point guard for the 16th ranked Christopher Newport Captains after a standout career at Thomas Dale. The senior has led the Captains to a 14-2 record as of press time and a 7-1 record in the Capital Athletic Conference. Hobbs leads her team in shooting percentage (58 percent) and assists (59) through (16) games. The chemistry major was named to the All-Central District second team in high school and averaged 12 points, five assists and four rebounds per game over her varsity career.

Matoaca High School
Freshman at Ferrum College
After winning a state championship in the 195 weight class as a Matoaca senior, Ramos ascended to the next level at Ferrum as a member of their wrestling team. The freshman is wrestling at 184 pounds as a Panther and has started off his college career with a 8-5 record, recording three pins. As a Warrior, Ramos didn’t lose a match his entire senior season, going 48-0, winning 42 of those matches by pin. Ramos is second all-time at Matoaca with 160 career victories.
